The Method of Self-suggestion on the Path to Healing
Emile Coue, the father of the self-suggestion method, helped his patients throughout their healing process with the suggestions he used in his sessions and also taught them how to help themselves. The suggestion examples presented below are a good example of these sessions. You can practice these sentences by reading them to yourself or by asking a friend to read them to you. These general suggestions presented are arranged to cover many possible ailments.
“Sit down and close your eyes. I will not try to put you to sleep. Because it's not necessary. I just want you to close your eyes. Close your eyes so that your attention does not shift to any other objects around you. Now put in your mind every word I'm going to say. Let these words be etched in your mind and leave a mark there. Absorb them into obedience completely unconsciously without will or knowledge. Let yourself and your whole body obey them. First, you will feel hungry three times a day, in the morning, noon and evening, just like you would with your regular meal. Say to yourself: 'It's nice to be able to find something to eat!' Then eat and savor your meal in moderation. Make sure you chew your food enough in your mouth. Chew your food to a soft dough consistency before swallowing it. That way, you can digest it easily. When you do this, you will no longer feel any discomfort or pain in your stomach or intestines. You will be able to digest your food easily. Your body will transform them into power and energy, in short, life.
When fed in a balanced way, your excretory function will also return to normal. Every morning when you wake up you will need to go to the toilet. You will not need to take any medication for this. You will be able to meet this need like any normal person.
You will be able to go to bed at any time every night and sleep until the time you want to wake up in the morning. Your sleep will be deep, calm and peaceful. You won't have nightmares. When you wake up from sleep, you will feel good, happy and energetic.
Until now, you may have been depressed, hopeless, and saddened by seeing the negative side of everything from time to time. You will end this now. You will feel happy instead of seeing the negative side of everything, making yourself sad and depressed. There may have been times until now when you fell into depression for no particular reason. Now you can feel happy for no particular reason. Moreover, even if there is a real reason that may cause you to be sad and depressed, you will be able to overcome it.
You will overcome traits such as impatience and intolerance. You will be able to be patient and self-controlled. You will look at things that have been worrying, disturbing, and angering you from a different perspective. You will keep your cool in the face of such things.
From time to time, you may have been under the influence of bad and harmful ideas, have fears, and harbor enmity and hatred towards the people around you. However, all these will come out of his imagination one by one and go away like a cloud. Just as you wake up from a nightmare, you will see it all come to an end.
In addition to all these, every organ of the body will perform its function in a healthy way. Your heart will beat regularly and your blood circulation will be regular. It will regularly perform the functions of the lungs, stomach, intestines, liver, gall bladder, kidneys and urinary bladder. When anyone encounters an abnormality in their function, the problem will decrease day by day and will be completely over in a short time. Your organs will begin to perform their normal functions again. The metamorphosis or wounds that appear in any part of your body will also heal day by day and you will eventually regain your health. (At this point, we do not need to know which organ cannot fulfill its function and needs to be treated. The unconscious activity of a person who thinks, "I am getting better every day in every way," with the effect of self-suggestion, finds the organ that needs to be treated.)
I should add this very important point: When you lose your self-confidence, this feeling of insecurity will gradually decrease and it will be replaced by confidence. Because you will feel this tremendous power that resides within all of us. This sense of trust is a mandatory need of everyone. We cannot do anything without it. When we have it, there is nothing that we cannot do within the limits of logic. You will be self-confident and this feeling of confidence will give you the power to do anything you want or need to do.
Always think that it is easy when you want or need to do something within the limits of logic. Remove expressions such as difficult, impossible, I can't, I can't, it's beyond my power. The phrases you need are: “It's easy and I can do it.” What we imagine to be easy is easy for us, even though it may seem difficult to others. You can quickly and successfully do what you imagine is easy. You won't get exhausted, because you don't have to put in a lot of effort. Whereas if you think the same thing is difficult or impossible, it will be really hard for you.”
(The general suggestions that I have given examples of may seem too long and even childish to some of you. However, they are all necessary and can be further enriched by considering the patient's own unique situation. A monotonous and soothing tone of voice should be used in all these suggestions. The important words should always be emphasized… When you come to the end of your suggestions, you can summarize with these words :)
In short, you will attain perfect health in every sense, both physically and spiritually. You will be much healthier than ever before. I'll count to three now. When I say 'three' you will open your eyes and come out of your present passive position. You will not feel any numbness or fatigue. You will feel strong, healthy, vigorous and full of life. At the same time, you will be cheerful and fit in every way. One two three…"
After counting to three, the patient opens his eyes. He always has a smile and an expression of satisfaction on his face. Although it is not very common, some patients are seen to recover immediately. However, time is usually required for patients' pain or depression to disappear partially or completely. Repeat the suggestions at certain time intervals. While doing this, be careful to gradually lengthen the suggestions. According to the course of development, continue your suggestions until the suggestions are no longer a need, that is, until the treatment is concluded.
Before you get out of bed every morning and every night when you go to bed, close your eyes for a moment and calm down and repeat the suggestion “I'm getting better in every way every day” twenty times. Emphasize the phrase “in all directions” in your mind. Because this expression will meet all kinds of needs, both material and spiritual, and this general suggestion is more effective than special suggestions.
