I Want To Be Like You When I Grow Up Dad
One day, when my child was born, I was busy with planes to catch and bills due.
He learned to walk while I was away; so is speech.
And when he got a little older, he started saying, "I want to be like you, dad." "I'll be just like you when I grow up."
He called the office and said, “Daddy, when will you come home?” ' he asked once. “I don't know when I'll be back, son. But when I come, you can be sure that we will have a good time together.”
The years just passed by. My son is ten years old. I bought him a nice ball. “Thanks for the ball, Dad!” he said, "Let's play."
“I have work to complete this weekend,” I said. "Not today, next week, okay?" “Okay,” he said, but the smile on his face didn't fade. “When you grow up, dad,” he said. “I want to be just like you.”
The years just passed by. My son graduated from elementary school, then high school, then college. In this case, like many other fathers, I had something to say. "I'm proud of you son," I said. “Come, let's sit for a while; I have something to say to you." He shook his head and said with a smile: "I have a word with my friends, Dad." "Can you give me the car keys?, See you later, okay?"
The years just passed by. I am retired. I had plenty of time now. My son, on the other hand, had found a good job in another city and lived there. One day I phoned him and said, “If it's okay with you, come here on the weekend and we'll get bored.”
"I'm glad, father," he said. “Let me see, if I can find a suitable time, I'll come. But right now I am very busy. But I want to see you too, Dad.”
"Well, when will you come, son?"
“I don't know when, Dad. Now I have a job interview, I have to catch up with him. I'll call you later. When I come, you can be sure that we will have a good time together.”
Ve telefonu kapattığımda, oğlumun çocukluk hayalini gerçekleştirdiğini anladım. Çocukluk hayalini gerçekleştirdiğini… Örnek aldığı babasına benzediğini… Büyüyünce tıpkı babası gibi olduğunu.
