Subject: László Toth (Adrien Brody), a visionary architect, survives the Holocaust in Europe and takes refuge with his cousin in America. He later brings his wife, Erzsébet (Felicity Jones), to start a new life. Having been a highly successful and innovative architect in Hungary before the war, László is forced to start from scratch. However, his life changes forever when he meets Harrison Van Buren (Guy Pearce), a wealthy client. A charming businessman, Van Buren is greatly impressed by László's artistic vision and commissions him to design a grand monument. In a sense, Van Buren takes László and his family under his wing, offering them the American Dream on a silver platter. But for László and Erzsébet, this project will bring far more challenges and drama than they anticipated. . .
