The Art of Dreaming
The Art of Dreaming is the art of imagining and living dreams. The Art of Dreaming serves as a guide for those who want to reach their dreams in their imagination. The artistic aspect of dreaming is expressed in two ways. First, dreaming involves 'individuality and uniqueness,' while the second one signifies a 'creative process.' The dreams in everyone's life carry a personal meaning, making them unique to each individual. Dreaming also represents a creative process where a person envisions and strives to live out their own thoughts.
The art of dreaming signifies discovering, living, and staying committed to the dream. For some, dreams are like vases hidden under a veil. Unveiling and revealing them require time and effort. For others, the dream is out in the open, but reaching and living it requires taking action. The final stage is the most challenging because living the dream is like rising above the clouds. The real struggle is to stay above the clouds. Staying committed to the dream requires taking risks, showing patience, and demonstrating determination. For those who successfully navigate this process, paradise has already begun to exist on Earth.
Discovering The Dream
Embarking on a journey of dreams is an adventure with no return. Discovering your imagination and dreams, and advancing toward the purpose of your life will transport you to a different level of existence. Dreams are sometimes not readily apparent. Therefore, a discovery process may be needed to make it more distinct. Although the length of this process varies from person to person, it is possible to expedite the journey with specific guidelines. If you're ready, let's begin! For this journey, all you need is a pen and paper for now.
- Begin by exploring the motivations and needs that shape your life; these are the values that guide you towards your purpose. What are the most important things in your life? Rank them in order of importance, and consider what tools could help you achieve these values (success, power, love, respect, etc.).
- Especially while working, what are the feelings you currently experience or wish to experience? Success, love, power-control, independence, growth, etc.
- Every day, the numerous choices and decisions you make throughout the day are the most significant indicators of your values. What are the top priorities among them? Learning, achievement, enjoyment, etc.
- Do you have any leisure activities or hobbies outside of work? What activities bring you joy and positive feelings the most? Take a moment to reflect on these, and jot down any thoughts. There might be activities you enjoyed in the past but haven't had the opportunity to engage in recently.
- Ask the people who know you best about yourself. Listen to what they say about what you enjoy and who you are. They can provide insightful information about your blind spots.
- Which of your values and desires enable you to live your dream, and which ones might be hindering it? (For example, wanting to travel the world and experience a sense of exploration while also wanting to be with your family).
- If you were given the opportunity to start something anew, what would you like to start, and from where? Would you evaluate your time differently than before? What would you like to experience more?
- If you knew that failure was impossible and that you would definitely achieve what you desire, what would you truly want to do or become?
Dream Goals and Action Plan
The art of dreaming encompasses not only the ability to dream but also the art of living those dreams. Therefore, we are now taking steps to live out those dreams.
Clear the Path!
Make a list of things that could hinder you from living your dream. What might be possible obstacles? Habits, beliefs, financial and spiritual barriers, etc. Write them down as they come to your mind. You can evaluate whether they are real obstacles later.
Review Your Habits!
Identify the negative habits that could hinder you from living your Dream. These habits may not be easy to break and have likely become a part of your personality. List them out and acknowledge them. Don't try to tackle all of them at once. Prioritize and allocate specific times for each. You can use specific motivation techniques for each one.Personal Change Management)
Reevaluate Your Beliefs!
What beliefs and attitudes are influencing your current situation? Identify all the negative beliefs you hold for yourself and about life. Include your fears and concerns in this list. You will likely realize that many of these are limiting and often unfounded beliefs. For example, you might have beliefs about success such as "I haven't succeeded before" or "I don't have enough education." Dealing with these can be addressed with the help of specific questioning patterns.
Prepare the Provisions!
When planning a journey, there are essential items you need to bring with you because you might need them during the trip. Some you can acquire along the way. Similarly, identify and start developing the fundamental skills needed to live your Dream, just like these provisions. Remember, if you believe you lack skills in certain areas, it can lead to inaction.
Lay Out Your Resources!
Who could be by your side in achieving your Dream? (father, uncle, friends, spouse, siblings). They can serve as spiritual support for you. Remember, spiritual support can be just as important, if not more so, than financial support. What are your financial resources? Personal capital and savings can be considered for this. Also, your previous experiences and accumulated knowledge can sometimes be more important than financial resources.
Clear the Way for the Dream!
Start living your Dream, and feel every moment of this process. You must start enjoying this pleasure immediately so that you can understand how correct it is to move towards the purpose you set by dreaming. First, make an important decision and determine the breadth and priority of your Dream in your life. You have started a journey towards a new life, and you must give your Dream the value it deserves. Place it at the top of your priority list in your life. Now start planning your life according to your Dream.
Let the 'Dream' Fill Your Life!
Connect to the Dream with steel ropes. As you show loyalty to it, you will see that it is also committed to you under any circumstances. Are the things you do every day actions that will lead you to your dreams? If it's not a part of your Dream, what is its place in your life? Honestly ask yourself this: Is it still possible to live the Dream with things that belong to your old life?"
Staying Connected to the Dream
Motivation Techniques for the "Dream Voyager"
Reasons for dedicating oneself to a 'dream'? Write down everything that comes to your mind. What do you expect from such a process? The first reason that comes to my mind is the desire to live a more meaningful life and the freedom to follow the path I choose.
- Create a "Dream Board." Paste anything that reminds you of your dream here. Pictures, writings, photos, symbols, posters, the car or house you want to own, etc.
- Do "Creative Visualization"; See yourself living your dream, feel that you have it, and sense its existence. You can do this whenever you want. Any environment where you won't be disturbed is suitable for visualization.
- Allocate extra time for your dream. Identify times during the day when you are unproductive and inefficient. List your activities for an entire week; this will give you awareness of your unproductive times. Identify these times and gradually try to allocate more time to living your dream. If necessary, sleep less. By sleeping 15 minutes less each day, you can reduce your sleep time to 5 hours. Achieving more may require additional effort, but sleeping one hour less will give you almost 15 extra days in a year.
- Utilize technology. Maintaining your determination and staying on the path to your dream amid the hustle and bustle of the day is not easy. Liberate yourself to make use of all kinds of opportunities. For instance, set alarms on your phone that remind you of your dream, write motivating sentences all over your computer. With these messages that remind you of your dream, you can reorganize yourself when you find yourself engaged in an action that takes you away from your dream.
- Your past does not define you. Body cells renew themselves entirely every three years. This means that everything you think represents yourself remains as the achievements of a completely different "you". However, you don't need to wait three years for a fresh start; surrender yourself to the safe embrace of your dream right now. Wherever you dream, that's where you belong.
- Utilize negative motivation. Sometimes we realize that we push ourselves into a lot of debts and troubles to motivate ourselves better. Generally, those who know how to benefit from the negative impact of motivation (even unconsciously) prefer this. If using negative motivation on the road to the dream gives you energy, don't hesitate—quit your job, get yourself into debt. Just remember that your dream will be in the safety zone while doing this.
- Write your own story. Narrate yourself from the perspective of a third person in a story. While writing, also ask yourself questions like, "How would I give advice to someone in similar circumstances and how could I help them?" This way, you will evaluate yourself with an unbiased eye and be able to look at yourself from a different perspective. Be positive and neutral. For example, you can say, "He/She was different, fighting their own battle... the good side of this problem would be... I would advise them to look at it from this perspective... etc."
- Put the obstacles that come your way into a new frame. Your dream will test how sincere you are by challenging you with difficulties. When faced with a major setback, rejoice because it is a test measuring your sincerity and resilience, or rather, it is a gift. These challenges will increase the value of your dream. When something goes wrong, ask yourself, "What could be the good side of this?" Force yourself to find the positive aspects and think of it as a "learning opportunity."
- Keep your dream in mind. In the movie "Memento," a man with short-term memory loss gets tattoos all over his body to remind him of his goal—to find the killer of his wife. Our memory is not as good as we think, especially with many distractions in our surroundings. Repetition and attention are crucial factors in keeping memory alive. While getting a tattoo may not be necessary, if we can't find more effective ways to remind ourselves of the dream, we might find ourselves far from our dream path.
- Start speaking Dreamish. Dreamish is the language of those who live their dreams. Living your dreams is a different way of life. This life has its own unique language. For instance, in the language of these people, instead of saying "I should," there is the expression "I choose to." Words like "impossible" or "I have to" are absent. Words play a fundamental role in shaping thought, and Noam Chomsky, in his theory of "transformative grammar," discusses how words influence our experiences, thoughts, and transform our feelings. The words we choose are so crucial that they have the power to reshape our experiences and perceptions.
- You can get coaching. Living your dream will challenge you over time. Having the guidance of a coach can help you stay stronger and more resilient in the face of difficulties during this process. While you may not need coaching throughout the entire process, there might be parts where you find it beneficial. If there are no coaching options available in your surroundings, you can also try online coaching through e-motivation.net.
- Who can I share my dream with? Living your dream and facing various challenges in today's conditions will bring forth several difficulties. One of the most significant consequences is the need to stand financially and meet certain requirements. Critical questions you can ask yourself here might help you. Who can I benefit from while living my dream? Who would be willing to pay for these benefits I provide?
- Where are you in the process? Which part of the process related to your dream are you in? Is everything going well, or do you need specific help and skills? What exactly have you done, and what will you do next? Remember, the important thing is whether you are enjoying this process. If you are not deriving enough happiness from this process, your resistance to challenges will be fragile.
