Development Stories from Coelho
Paulo Coelho, “Piedra Irmağının Kıyısında Oturdum, Ağladım” adlı muhteşem kitabında birbirinden etkileyici gelişim öykülerine yer vermektedir. İşte bu güzel kitaptan gelişime dair öyküler.
By making the sun rise every day, God gives us time to change everything that makes us unhappy. However, we ignore the fact that such time has been given to us every day, pretending to think that today will look like yesterday as well as tomorrow. But the person who pays attention to the day he is living discovers the existence of that magical moment. Maybe that magical moment is hidden in the minute we put the key in the lock in the morning, during the silence that follows the dinner, in a thousand and one things that seem alike to us. But there is such a moment, and at that moment the stars fill us with all their power and make us ready to perform miracles. Happiness is sometimes a blessing - but often a conquest. That magical moment of the day helps us change, pushes us to set out to chase our dreams. We will suffer, we will go through hard times, but these will be temporary, unmarked periods. And then we'll look back with pride and faith.
Shame on the person who is afraid to put himself in danger! Because that person may never be disappointed and will not suffer as much as those who have a dream to pursue. But when she turns and looks back (because we always look back, we always end up) she will hear the words pour out from her heart: “God, what have you done with the seeds of miracles for every day you live? What did you do with the food that the Creator gave you? You buried them all in a hole because you were afraid of losing them. Here is what you now have: the certainty of having passed away.”
Öteki
A man comes across a long-time friend; friend gives the impression of someone who has not been able to chart his path in life. 'I'll have to give him some money', he thinks. But that evening, he realizes that his friend has become rich and has decided to pay off all of his debts up to that point.
'They go to a bar they frequent, and this dude buys everybody a drink. When they ask about the source of this sudden wealth, he tells them that he 'lived the Other' until his last days.
'But who is this Other?' they ask the man.
“The other is the person they taught me to be, but who is not me,” he says. He believes that people have to think about how to make money in their lifetime if they don't want to starve to death when they get old. The more they think, the more they plan; Only when they are about to expire do they realize that they are living beings as well. Then it was too late.”
"- So who are you?"
“I am like any one among you who listens to the voice of his heart. I am a person who is dazzled by the secret of life, open to miracles, and excited and excited by what he does. Until now, however, the Other had tied my hands for fear of disappointment.
“Well, people continue to suffer,” replied all those present.
“- It is the failures that go on. No one can get away with this. It is better for a man to have some failures in his struggle to make his dreams come true, than to be defeated without knowing what he is fighting for.”
"- Is that all?" asked the customers at the bar.
"- Yes. After making this discovery, my eyes were opened and I decided to truly become the person I always wanted to be. There, in my room, the Other stared at me, but I did not allow it to come back into me, although at times he tried to frighten me by reminding me that I was putting myself in danger by not thinking about my future. From the day I cut the Other out of my life, God's power began to show its miracles.”
Gift
A boy and a young girl were madly in love with each other. And they decided to get engaged. Engaged people always present gifts to each other. But the boy was poor—the only wealth he had was the watch he had inherited from his grandfather. Thinking of her lover's beautiful hair, she decided to sell her grandfather's watch in order to buy her a beautiful silver comb.
The young girl also did not have the money to buy a fiancee gift for the man she loved. He went to the biggest merchant of the place where he lived and sold his hair. With the money he got, he bought a gold shackle for the watch of the man he loved.
And when they met again on the day of their betrothal, the young girl gave him a shackle for the watch he had sold; a silver comb for the young girl to comb her cut hair.
