The Way of a Sufi
A passing Sufi notices a scared young man sitting in a dark pit. She approaches him and, bowing, curiously: "Why are you there?" he asks.
The young man, startled by the Sufi's voice, hesitantly replies, "Because I'm afraid."
“So why are you afraid?” ' the Sufi asks curiously again. The young man reluctantly replies: "Because it's dark here."
The Sufi asks again: "And why are you in the dark?"
Young man: “Because I lost the love inside me.” he replies.
The Sufi stretched out his hand towards him and said, “Then come to me, this is the light!” says.
After some hesitation and waiting, he said, “No, I can't!” says the young man, and continues in a sad tone: “I am used to the dark now, and to be afraid!”
Upon this to him The aroused Sufi says: “Well then… I am coming to you; but with all my brilliance!”
The Sufi knew something about people:
If you shine the light on the darkness before people, they will thank you. If you hold on to the darkness within them, they will hate you.
